Evening wear and the plus size girl |
|
One of the biggest reasons I wanted to grow up was to get dressed up in evening wear and go out on dates and just be able to glam up. Like all girls my age my first real night out with a boy was pretty nerve racking but exquisitely exciting at the same time. What stays most in my memory though is the heartbreakingly difficult time I had trying to find an evening dress or even something just plain dressy enough to wear out. My mother and I searched high and low to find something that was young, modern and plus sized. So now you know what this is really all about. I am a fuller figured girl and I want to let you know that although I have had many horrible experiences when trying to buy fashionable clothes in larger sizes, things are really looking up. 10 years on and I am happy to say that when the time comes for my daughter starts looking for evening wear that is fashionable and just right ,if she is a plus size figured young woman it will not be a bad or unhappy experience for her. I can't believe how much things have changed for us bigger gals. Although I am not a teenager anymore, I am still very fashion aware and I like to be wearing clothes that are modern and that flatter my figure. I have never aspired to be a size 8, I love my figure and I have always felt that I represent the real women of today. Strong and proud of whom we are and not defeated and insecure because our body shape doesn't fit the stereo type that many women's magazines promote. Society has improved so much in its attitude to larger women and girls. Fashion manufacturers are almost focusing on the bigger girl. What a change! What is being highlighted now is the need to be healthy and happy with what we are born with. hats not to say that we are being told that weight loss is not a good thing ,but weight loss that is right for your body type with an emphasis on good nutritional eating habits and a good appreciation of ourselves as a person is what matters most for a well balanced life attitude. |
