Plus size models are in high demand |
|
Over the last few years the demand for plus size models on the catwalk and in fashion magazines has increased dramatically. With the average size for women now being a 14-16, many fashion houses have now started to incorporate larger sizes into their fashion lines. Some manufacturers are using these findings to create brand new lines and labels altogether. The market has been screaming out for women's fashion in the larger sizes which means that healthy, beautiful, plus size women now have a greater choice in the clothes they wear and the stores where they can now shop. Sales in women's plus size clothing has increased and the popularity has amazed some outlets. Many women's magazines are now including options for those in need of fashion in the larger sizes ie: size 14-26 range. This is a welcome relief for those who have struggled for years to look good and feel great in modern trends and styles. Many women have been limited with selection as there has been very little variety to suit their body type. This leaves them to make do with basic drab colours and ill fitting frumpy shapes resulting in boring outfits that make them feel unattractive and lacking in confidence. Catwalks are also now incorporating plus sized fashion for casual and formal attire and the need for plus size models is increasing. Even modeling agencies, who once banished the larger sized woman from their portfolio, are now taking the opportunity to embrace them given the increase in demand. It has come as a challenge for some designers who feel however that there is still is no room in their lines for larger sizes. Many designers believe that looking beautiful means being slim and have refused to include any sizes larger than a size 12 to their brands. Thankfully more so are taking on the challenge and realizing there is a niche in the market that requires fulfilling.
