What is plus size fashion? |

If you have ever gained a few extra kilos or had problems with fluctuating weight then you are all too familiar with the trouble of finding suitable clothing that fits well and makes you look and feel fabulous. And the thought of going up a size is just unthinkable. So what do you do if you are genuinely overweight and can't shop for clothes in any store you like or off the rack? Well, fortunately enough it doesn't have to be painstakingly difficult. Plus size clothing has been designed for ladies who have trouble fitting into the standard size of today's women's fashion. Cuts are made differently to assist with fitting in the correct places and extra fabric is used for flow and added length. Companies that are now incorporating plus sizes in to their collection or those that have seized the opportunity to produce new lines for this market completely have weaved their magic using some tricks that assist with making the plus size woman look and feel more attractive in their clothes. It sounds easy enough to suggest that including larger sizes into already existing lines would be the answer but the larger sizes require completely different styles than average sized women's clothing. Simple actions such as using the right fabrics that flow and don't cling to the body work best for the larger sized garments. On top of that, larger women feel more comfortable in these items. However, designers are all too aware that too much additional fabric can add extra unwanted kilos to an already larger frame so it's all about the right balance. Specific styles are the key. Wide leg pants and a-line skirts work well for the larger woman as do vertical lines and darker colours. Many department stores cater for larger sizes and even more recently new retailers are popping up in shopping centers and online selling only sizes 14-24. So it's never been easier for the plus size women to unearth great fashions.
